Concert for Cello and Piano

Join Nick Dinnerstein and Paul Jacobs on Sunday, June 3 at 2:00 pm for a program of French and Hungarian music for cello and piano. The program will feature Zoltan Kodaly’s Sonata for Solo Cello and will include works by Jeno Hubay, Claude Debussy and Gabriel Fauré.

Boston-based cellist Nick Dinnerstein has performed solo and in chamber music ensembles at venues around the country. Mr. Dinnerstein has performed as a member of the Boston Ballet Orchestra and teaches privately and at local music schools.

Pianist Paul Jacobs has performed extensively on the East coast. He holds an Artist Diploma in piano performance from Longy School of Music. He is on the faculty of Brookline Music School and Concord Conservatory of Music.

The Operas of Donizetti

Gaetano Donizetti was one of the true masters of Bel Canto operas in the mid-1800s and is credited with having composed more than 70 operas in his long career. Join Rick Askenase of the New England Opera Club on Sunday, June 10 at 2:00 pm for an educational video tour and discussion of clips from recent performances of Donizetti’s operas. Highlights from best known works such as Lucia di Lamermoor and rare, never before seen clips from very obscure operas such as Alahor in Granata will be included in the program, along with unusual performances by opera superstars such as Juan Diego Florez.

Rick Askenase is a long time collector of musical rarities. A passionate devotee of opera, he attends more than 20 performances a year in the Boston area. Last year he was an on-stage extra in two of Opera Boston’s productions.

Gail Finnie to Perform

Singer-songwriter Gail Finnie performs on guitar and Appalachian dulcimer. As a folk musician her repertoire is drawn from both traditional and contemporary sources. Join her on Sunday, June 17 at 2:00 pm for an intimate afternoon of soothing folk music.

Since the early 1980s Ms Finnie has performed as a solo artist in New England area coffeehouses, clubs, festivals, museums and schools. She has shared the stage with such luminaries as Tom Rush, Nanci Griffith, Garnet Rogers, Odetta and Pete Seeger. Ms Finnie teaches dulcimer both privately and in workshops at various festivals. Her fourth recording titled Heart of a Believer was recently released to rave reviews.

Adrian Jojatu and Friends

Join Ala Jojatu and Tudor Bota, piano; Emil Lancea, clarinet; Luiza Maria Jojatu, violin, and Adrian Jojatu, bassoon, for an afternoon performance of classical music on Sunday, June 24 at 2:00 pm. They will play works by F. Seitz, W. A Mozart , Glinka and C. M. von Weber.

Ala Jojatu performs regularly with Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, among others.

Tudor Bota is the Music Director at Union Church in Waban, MA.

Emil Lancea is an active chamber music player in Boston area.

Luiza Maria Jojatu studies at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School under Magdalena Richter.

Adrian Jojatu performed at the summer residence of Pope John II and was invited to perform with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops.

Please don't save seats! When attending a Sunday afternoon concert, please do not save more than one seat as this deprives others of attending the concert. The rule is first come, first served.
