Aurora Duo to Perform Vivaldi, Copland, Gershwin and Puccini

Aurora Duo, a viola/violin and piano duo will give a concert of Italian and American music on Thursday, August 14 at 7:00 pm. The performance will include Autumn, from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, a Copland piano piece, a selection from Rodeo, Gershwin show tunes and Puccini opera favorites. The duo includes Loren Pearson on violin and viola and her husband Kevin McGinty on piano. In more than 20 years performing together, Auroro Duo has given numerous viola-piano recitals throughout Massachusetts and has played for the WGBH live performance series.

Loren Pearson, violist and violinist, holds a Master’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Ms. Pearson has performed with, among others, the Boston Opera, the Worcester Symphony, Masterworks Chorale and the Hartford Symphony. She will be joining the faculty of the New School of Music in Cambridge, MA.

Kevin McGinty holds a Master’s degree from the Juilliard School of Music. An active performer in the New England area, his solo concert performances include appearances with the Boston Pops in Symphony Hall and most recently at Mechanics Hall in Worcester with the Central Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, where he performed Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Mr. McGinty serves on the faculties of the New School of Music, All-Newton Music School and Milton Academy.

Each month the program features interesting and informative interviews related to library events and happenings. The show is produced by Ellen Meyers, the library's Director of Programs and Communications.

To Our Concert Goers:


Please be considerate of the performer today as well as your fellow audience members and refrain from leaving the auditorium during a piece of music. If you have small children with you, please sit in the back rows. If you leave the auditorium between pieces, please close the door quietly behind you and wait to re-enter after a musical piece. Also, if you have a cellphone, please shut if off. Thank you.

Please don't save seats! When attending a Sunday afternoon concert, please do not save more than one seat as this deprives others of attending the concert. The rule is first come, first served.
