Dial-A-Story
Phone: (617) 796-1415
Dial-A-Story is a gift from the Friends of the Library.

Welcome to the Newton Free Library Children's Room Webpage! Our collections include fiction and non-fiction, picture books, easy reader and beginning chapter books, folk and fairy tales, foreign language books, circulating and non-circulating reference books, and a professional collection. We provide lists of recommended books, by grade level and subject, and our librarians are always happy to help you find just the right book.

Our large audiovisual collection includes CD-ROMs, CDs, cassettes, books on tape, videos, DVDs, and media kits.

Programs are offered for children of all ages. These include storytimes, writing, crafts, science, and many wonderful performances.
ALL OUR PROGRAMS ARE FREE!

Our support and services to schools include visits to preschools to read stories, tours of the children's room for school groups, and prepared "kits" with books, materials, and activities on particular themes available for loan to teachers. Each year, we visit all the first grades in the Newton Public Schools. We have also visited other grades, informing students about our collections and services. We would be happy to come to any classroom for an age-appropriate presentation. We are always interested in working with teachers to ensure that we have enough material to support research and reading assignments.
