Programs Drop In Storytimes Call 617-796-1370 for more info. 2 year olds: Monday at 9:45am - October 1 Tuesday at 10:30am - October 2 2 ½ to 3 year olds: Wednesday at 9:45am - October 3 Thursday at 9:45am - October 4 3 to 4 year olds: Monday at 1:30pm - October 1 3 to 5 year olds: Tuesday at 4:00pm - October 2 4 to 5 year olds: Thursday at 3:30pm - October 4 Newton Free Library awarded the Mother Goose on the Loose grant! This exciting grant will enable the Children’s Room to offer innovative, emergent literacy programs for babies, toddlers and their caregivers, both in the library and out in the community. Every month this year there will be something wonderful for the under 2’s from Mother Goose on the Loose. This program is federally funded with LSTA funds through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. As part of the Mother Goose on the Loose grant, we will be offering drop-in lapsits the first and third Saturday of each month, for children ages 0-23 months, with caregivers. Saturdays, October 6 and 20 at 10:30 am. Mother Goose Asks “Why?” A family literacy program using fantastic picture books and hands-on activities to introduce and emphasize science concepts. In this 3-week session, we will learn about color, sound, and water. For children ages 3-5 with caregivers. Wednesdays at 4 pm, October 10, 17 & 24. Registration begins Monday, October 1. Lap-sits for Prewalkers & Walkers Registration begins Wednesday, September 5 Prewalkers: Monday at 10:30am - October 1 Friday at 11:15am - October 5 Walkers: Tuesday at 9:45am - October 2 Thursday at 10:30am - October 4 K-1 Storytime: Amazing Animals Stories and activities about animals. Ages 6 and up. Thursday, October 11 at 4:15 pm Registration begins October 1 Fun with Folktales - Trees Listen to delightful folktales about trees, create a craft, and talk about your favorite tree tales! Ages 7 and up. Thursday, October 18 at 4:15 pm Registration begins Monday, October 1. Scary Stories for Halloween! Susan Raskin Abrams will cast a spell with scary stories for children ages 5 and up.
