Programs Preschool Films Fridays at 10:30AM April 6, 13, 20, 27 Druker Auditorium Preschool Singalongs Join Melissa, Jean and Sandy for a fun musical program. Tuesdays at 10:30AM April 10 and 24 Druker Auditorium Mixing in Math Explore math concepts using storybooks and fun activities. Program ideas are taken from the educational research organization TERC. Tuesday, April 10, at 4:00PM Ages 6 and 7 Registration begins Monday, April 2. Poetry Writing Workshop Mondays at 7:00PM April 23, 30 & May 7 Ages 12 and up Registration begins Monday, April 2. Science Tuesday - Pulleys and Gears Educators from the Children’s Technology Workshop will provide a hands-on program in which children will explore the science behind pulleys and gears. Creative Writing Workshop Wednesdays at 7PM April 4, 11, 18, 25 Ages 10 and up Registration Required Hampstead Players—Robin Hood Join us for a terrific theatrical production of the exciting tale of Robin Hood. Tuesday, April 17, at 2:00PM Ages 5 and up Druker Auditorium Sponsored by the Friends Meet the Author - Carlyn Beccia This author and illustrator will read from her beautiful new picture book, Who Put the B in Ballyhoo? Children will hear about famous circus performers from the early 19th century and make a circus poster. Wednesday, April 18, at 10:30AM Ages 5 and up Registration begins Monday, April 9. Poetry Reading at Barnes & Noble In honor of National Library Week, the Library and Barnes & Noble, Chestnut Hill, will present a Poetry Reading for Children and Teens featuring Newton Library young poetry enthusiasts reading their original poems aloud. Participants will be from the Library’s poetry programs and Teen Advisory Board. Children and teens must register with Jean Holmblad by Wednesday, April 11, at jholmblad@minlib.net or call 617-796-1370. All poems must be suitable for a family audience and poems must be under 100 words. The reading will take place at Barnes & Noble on Friday, April 20. 3:00PM: 5 – 11 year olds 4:00PM: Ages 12 and up Puppet Show "How the Elephant Got His Trunk” and “The Three Little Pigs,” lively hand-puppet stories, will be presented by Drawbridge Puppet Theater Productions.
