Programs Preschool Singalongs Join Melissa, Jean and Sandy for a fun musical program. Tuesdays at 10:30AM: February 13 & 27 Druker Auditorium Preschool Films Fridays at 10:30AM February 2, 9, 16, 23 Druker Auditorium Mixing in Math In this monthly program we explore math using storybooks and fun activities. Program ideas are taken from the educational research organization TERC. Tuesday, February 13, at 4:00PM Ages 6 & 7 Registration begins Monday, February 5. Poetry Writing Workshop Explore the world of poetry. Read some poems aloud and write some of your own. Ages 10 and 11 Mondays at 7:00PM: February 26, March 5 & 19 Registration begins Monday, February 5. Science Tuesday - Birds of Prey     Educators from the Wingmasters group will return with North American Birds of Prey. Children will learn about and meet these fascinating birds. Tuesday, February 27, at 3:30PM Ages 6 and up Druker Auditorium Sponsored by the Friends of the Library Is It Fact or Fiction? - Dragons Discover some real dragons and listen to some fun myths about these magical creatures. Craft will follow. Ages 7 and up Thursday, February 15, at 4:15PM Registration begins Monday February 5. World Cultures - Carnival in Brazil Children will discover how this festive holiday is celebrated in Brazil with a story, craft and delicious treat. Thursday, February 8, at 4:15PM Ages 5 and up Registration begins Thursday, February 1. Play Reading Children will read some plays and have fun with dramatic games. Thursdays at 7:00PM: February 8, 15, 22, March 1 Ages 9 and up Registration Required Everybody Loves a Story Have fun and earn community service credit! Get coaching from a professional storyteller and learn to select, adapt and tell stories. We’ll help you find places to tell your stories to children in grades pre-K through 3. Pizza will be served at the first session. Wednesdays at 7:00PM: January 10, 17, 24, 31 & February 7 & 14 Ages 12 to 15 Registration begins January 3. Presented in conjunction with a grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Valentine’s Day Crafts Listen to some sweet Valentine’s Day stories and make your own valentine. Ages 2 to 3: Monday, February 12, at 10:30AM Ages 4 to 7: Monday, February 12, at 4:00PM Registration begins Monday, February 5. Drumming Concert Join Steven Leicach on an exciting adventure into the amazing world of African rhythm and drums. Friday, February 23, at 11:00AM Ages 4 and up Druker Auditorium Sponsored by the Friends of the Library   Tom Thumb City Stage Co. presents this lively comedy with audience participation about a child who was “no bigger than his father’s thumb.” Thursday, February 22, at 2:00PM Ages 4 and up Druker Auditorium Sponsored by the Friends of the Library Counting on Mother Goose This family literacy program for children and their caregivers uses great picture books and fun hands-on activities to introduce simple mathematical concepts to children. Ages 3 to 5 Tuesday at 3:00PM: February 6, 13, 27 Registration begins Monday, January 29.   The New Art Center is presenting an exhibition of children’s book illustrations. The Library will be collaborating with them, providing storytimes, bulletin board displays and other programs. Look for information on this upcoming exhibition “The Visions & Voices of Children’s Book Illustrators” March 19 - May 20 at NAC.
