Meet a Local Author Join us for our new monthly program. Mitali Perkins will read from Monsoon Summer, a Young Adult novel set in India, and will also talk about the publishing process. WINGS (Writers and Illustrators for Newton enGaging Students) welcomes Caldecott Medal author and illustrator Allen Say speaking on his writing career. The Newton Public Schools and the Library proudly announce the establishment of WINGS, a citywide initiative which will bring children’s authors and illustrators as guest presenters for three events during the school year. This program is made possible through support from the Newton Schools Foundation. Tuesday, October 26 at 7:00 pm All ages welcome Druker Auditorium World Cultures - Mexico Children will hear stories, create a craft and enjoy a tasty treat from Mexico. Thursday, October 7 at 4:15pm Ages 5 and up, Registration begins Monday, October 4.   Science Tuesday - New England Aquarium The Aquarium’s traveling tide pool will stop by the Library for some exciting hands-on discoveries. Tuesday, October 26 at 3 & 4:00pm Ages 6 and up, Registration begins Monday, October 4. Druker Auditorium* Fun with Folktales - Magic Items Children will hear folktales about items with magical properties and then make their own “magic” item. Thursday, October 21 at 4:15pm Ages 7 and up. Registration begins Monday, October 4.
