Activities

	May Day Celebration Join us around the May pole as we celebrate May Day with a dance, craft and treat. Ages 5 and up Registration begins Monday, April 7
	"Dance Moves" presented by the Joanne Langione Dance Center Ensemble This program features contemporary Modern Jazz choreography performed by a student touring group, ages 10-17 years. Saturday, May 3 at 1:00pm Druker Auditorium
	Author Kathleen Odean speaks on "How to Encourage Children's Reading" In this talk for parents, the well-known author will speak about great books to get children reading. Followed by a book signing. Wednesday, May 7 at 7:00pm Druker Auditorium Funded by an LSTA grant awarded to the Newton Public Schools elementary librarians.
	Seventh Annual Poetry Fest for Children At this festive event, copies of Write Now!, the Library journal of children's poetry, will be distributed to the young poets and selected children will read their poems aloud. Monday, May 12 6:30pm: journal distribution to the poets 7:00pm: poetry reading Druker Auditorium Refreshments will be served
	Story Magic Fair and Book Drive at the Newton Free Library Gather your friends and neighbors and join "George and Martha" for a celebration of Stories, Reading and Friendship. There to entertain you, besides George and Martha, will be a puppet show, craft and sing-a-long. This event is co-sponsored by the Newton Mothers Forum. Saturday, May 17 at 2:00pm Ages 3 and up Druker Auditorium
	Science Tuesday-Desert Animals Michelle Lunceford, a wildlife educator, will bring some remarkable animals to show the wonders of life in the desert. Tuesday, May 27 at 4:00pm Ages 6 and up; Registration begins Monday, May 5 Sponsored by the Friends of the Library
	"Who's Minding the Castle?" A Play Performed by the Once Upon a Time Players The Library's Play Reading Group will perform this funny play about a quick thinking maid who outwits an evil baron. Monday, May 19 at 4:30pm Ages 4 and up Druker Auditorium
	Pajama Storytime Thursdays at 7:00pm - May 8, 15, 22, 29 Ages 4 and up No registration required
	Preschool Films Fridays at 10:30am - May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 Druker Auditorium No registration required
