Looking for a book for your book club to read next or a book to bring on vacation or the hottest new business title or award winners for young adults and children? Try BookLetters. BookLetters is a reader’s advisory service providing opportunities for Newton patrons to sign-up to receive free email-newsletters with comments and reading recommendations in varied fields of interest (you can also sign up to receive newsletters by RSS feed). The service also includes Newton Free Library news and activities including author talks, bestseller and award lists, book discussion guides, author directories and other helpful information.

NetLibrary®    Home Access | In Library Access

NetLibrary®'s ebook collection includes nearly 100 of Bloom's literature guides, as well as books on other popular topics. Create a free account to access ebooks from home. Please note: Because new books are no longer being added, some content is outdated.

 

NoveList  Home Access | In Library Access

NoveList's database of over 155,000 fiction titles for readers of all ages can help you find your next book to read. Search by author, title, series title, or plot keywords. Features include lists of recommended reads in all genres, author read-alikes, links to author websites, book discussion guides, and feature articles.

Bibliographies prepared by Reference staff, on a wide variety of nonfiction and fiction subjects. Most lists include links to internet resources as well as books.

Go to Amazon.com Bestseller lists and find Top 100 Bestsellers, Hardcover Fiction, Hardcover Nonfiction, Paperback Fiction, Paperback Nonfiction, Audiobooks, Large Print Books as well as the New York Times bestseller lists like Hardcover Fiction and Hardcover Nonfiction.

 

Books in Other Languages at the Newton Free Library

The Library has books in 17 foreign languages, both fiction and nonfiction: Bengali, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Marathi, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Yiddish. Look for them at the rear of the second floor (Russian on the third floor).

International Children's Digital Library

Digitized historic and contemporary children's books in dozens of languages, from all over the world, searchable not only by keyword, but by age level, length, country, and color of the cover.
